WOW! cool thx guys...
and yeah, gold dot is incredibly expensive to go poke holes in paper with, But i use it in all of my CCW's for day to day, then..... unload it into my range bag when i go TO the range, and shoot with federal, or winchester cheap fmj range rounds.
Oddly enough, the range i like to go to doesn't allow hollowpoints at the pistol range, and REQUIRES hollow point rounds at the rifle range... i'm not sure why...
But i don't really care, i've shot the gold dot enough at other ranges to know how it handles if i need to use it someday for it's intended purpose.
Though, no.. definitely not spending that kind of money to poke holes in paper.
(((not to turn this into a done to death ammo discussion out of topic but: )))
I prefer gold dot to most of the other brands i've seen reviews for. I haven't gone and done all the testing myself but, in a lot of reviews i've seen, gold dot outperforms most other ammos. It never has jacket separation, never clogs with denim, always expands, and tears a huge freakin hole in ballistics gel. some of the PDX rounds get clocked and don't expand etc. can't risk that. The LEO around here like to use gold dot if they have a choice, but they are issued PDX normally. I do know that all of the LEO's i run into at the other range i go to all shoot with gold dot, and most of the shops here recommend it, over alternatives. most shop owners being active, or retired cops or detectives, or what have you, so.... I'd be inclined to take their words on it. Their lives are on the line every day, whereas i'm safe 99.99999999999% of the time in my day to day life. If they rely on it, then i can rely on it too. that and my sig! lol
but i digress...
Definitely won't be a steady diet, i can't afford it to be, though it's great to know that if i put a clip full of +p down range, the barrel isn't going to turn into a pipe bomb and blow my fingers off.
+p+ sounds insane. I haven't even heard of that, and am not sure where to get it even lol. Sounds more like a revolver round.. '?'

From what I am reading, it looks like the 238 shares some parts common to the Colt 380's. Does anyone know, definitively, if this safety will work on the 238? Thanks very much!
Update: OK, I just saw that, apparently, the 238 and 938 safeties are interchangeable and some 938 operators have installed the Colt extended safeties without issue. True?
If, as Pipe Smoker suggests, that if new, until the detent 'wears in' the safety may seem too stiff to move quickly. The substitution of a longer levered safety may give you more of a mechanical advantage, it can also provide a greater possibility, to allow the safety to be accidently disengaged, with little effort. Another assumption is the 'drop-in' swap... while there is a good possibility it will drop right in without fitting... does it fit 'correctly'?
