Not so good: Stubborn stains will need more work. Small capacity water tanks. People who have (regularly) heavier soiled carpets should consider purchasing a higher spec model.

The Vax Rapide Deluxe (model V-026RD) occupies the entry level position in the Vax carpet cleaner range along with the Vax 6131T, however, the Rapide Deluxe is the least expensive upright carpet cleaner in the Vax range. Resembling a more traditional upright vacuum cleaner, the Vax Rapide Deluxe is a popular carpet cleaner, with offer prices starting at just under £100 (compared to nearly £300 RRP for the Vax Dual V).
As to be expected though at this price, the Rapide Deluxe doesn’t come with an array of sophisticated features, being sold as more of a quick and easy-to-use carpet cleaner. The low pricing reflects the cleaning performance: while offering an adequate cleaning performance you may find that stubborn stains and very dirty carpets require several attempts at cleaning (the Rapide Deluxe features a 600 watt motor compared to a 1350 watt motor found in the Vax Dual V).
This carpet cleaner will not match the performance of the higher priced cleaners; however, the Vax Rapide Deluxe functions excellently as a carpet “refresher” and is an ideal carpet cleaner for those with pets or small children; easily tackling minor spills and removing pet odours.

The Rapide Deluxe requires some minor assembly prior to use and this can be tricky for some as the instructions, particularly the diagrams, could be clearer. Although when its assembled it can be ready to use within minutes so is handy for quickly dealing with those spills or pet accidents.
This is also a very lightweight cleaner at just under 8kg, making it the lightest Vax carpet cleaner available. This is an important consideration as the more expensive models, such as the Vax Dual V, weight up to 12kg (or 50% more)! The Vax Rapide Deluxe is especially easy to store as it can be folded flat, so you can even store under a bed if space is at a premium.
The water tanks on the Rapide Deluxe are small in comparison to the more expensive models with only 2.6 litre (clean water) and 1.8 litre (dirty water) capacity, so more frequent trips to the sink are going to be inevitably. However, the water tanks are easy to remove, fill or empty and then replace, which is often not the case with more expensive (and complex) models. Similar to other Vax models (and carpet cleaners in general to be fair) this is quite a noisy piece of kit so try and get to listen to one before you purchase if this is a concern.
The Vax Rapide Deluxe comes complete with an upholstery tool that can be used for stairs, sofas and other soft furnishings. This is not a powered accessory (like on the Vax Dual V) but is still a fairly effective tool. Some users report that the cleaning solution is sometimes difficult to direct in the right areas and that the hose for the tool (which is attached to the main body of the cleaner when not in use) can get in the way when cleaning.
A final point to consider is the Vax Rapide Deluxe comes complete with a 2 year guarantee which reflect Vax’s build quality and is a sign of their confidence in the product.

I had have just had one of these Vax cleaners delivered. I could not see many problems when assembling to be honest. So fare it has cleaning the living room carpet very well so I am quite pleased. More carpets to go!
